I read a blog post today about a large population living in a small area (5 square miles) and I just couldn't really wrap my mind around it. But it did send me on a Google search to find out what the 2010 census showed for Putnam County which is the county I live in and one of the three that make up the borders of Lake Sinclair. I was relieved to discover we still only have 61 people per square mile. I don't much .like crowds. More and more I am realizing that it's growing close to time for me to find a small acreage tract to purchase for my retirement home. I only want to move one more time. I've already begun to formulate house plans, but I may also need to start looking for the "spot".
If you are like me and don't like crowded places you also might consider Lake Sinclair and Putnam County. All of the 2010 Census Facts about Putnam County are at the link, but the facts that I love the most....
- Population 21,218 in 344 square miles
- slow growth at just 12.8%
- over 2000 veterans live in Putnam County
Of course as my Donald pointed out when I began reading facts from the census data that we do use a good bit of the land here for our Dairy industry. Putnam County is also the Dairy Capital of Georgia. On the first Saturday in June annually you can find a festival celebrating our dairy industry in downtown Eatonton. If you are looking for some wide open spaces, some quiet country lake living, give me a call, I'd be happy to help you find just the right spot.
