It's Thanksgiving, what's for Dinner?

I was just thinking what to put on the menu for this Thanksgiving dinner. That brought about some old, wonderful memories. Growing up on the South Side of Chicago was interesting, our family was quite large, my Mom and Dad each had 5 brothers and Sisters, and on a Holiday many of them would come to our house for dinner, along with all of the cousins. Thanksgiving Dinner could easily be 20 or 25 people, in our 1300 sq foot home.

Mom would roast 2 turkeys, each about 14 pounds, that way all of the "guys" could have a turkey leg, and then there was the ham, just inc ase anyone wanted some of that, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce (both home made and in the can), french cut strng beans in a muchroom base with dried onion rings on top turkey stuffing, some sort of salid, rolls, carrots, and of course Pumkin pie with whip cream for desert.

Today, my wife and I are far away from most of the family, we do invite the children, all grown up with families of their own, the turkey is usually a 20 pound-er, roasted to perfection, stuffed with home made stuffing, toss in some sweet potatoes in a caramelized sauce, beans, salad, rolls, pumpkin pie for desert.

What sort of memories does all of this brind up ofr you?

Me????  A lot of great things!  Football in the backyard.  I still play....even in my late 40's.  Then we watch football and then eat the birds my dad does.  His stuffing is literally the best that's ever been seen on the face of this planet.  I'm still doing it all with my parents, 4 brothers and sisters, and the 27 kids.  Doesn't get much better than this!

That menu certainly sounds like a good one to me we have that in the south as well. Cherris the memories because they seem to fade with each passing year when you have no pictures or anything to remember them by.
