The Friday after Thanksgiving is known in the retail world as Black Friday, a day when consumers are willing to line up before the crack of dawn for the opportunity to go elbow to elbow and shopping cart to shopping cart for the deal of the season. All of your major big box stores and retailers consider this as the kickoff for the holiday shopping season.
For the second year, American Express has promoted Small Business Saturday as a way of calling attention to the many small business owners in our communities who rely on our support.
That’s not all, you, the consumer, can register your American Express card and if you use it this Saturday at a small business, you’ll receive a $25 statement credit on your Card account.
Pass this information on to small business owners in your community as well as your friends. This economy has been hard on everyone and you have only to take a drive along Federal Highway in Delray Beach or some other major streets and see “Store Closed” signs.
Bloggers... let’s show our support by writing some localism posts not only for this weekend but throughout the year highlighting your favorite businesses. It’s important for everyone in the community that these businesses continue to thrive... after all, these same business owners also buy houses, shop at our local markets, buy gas, buy clothing, and many other local services.
Here are just a few of my favorite small businesses in Delray Beach:
