I've never figured out why not having money means you have to keep your trash in the house - but I've seen this situation over and over.
Sorry you have this to deal with. Also sorry these slobs reside in Idaho! (Oh no, oh no!)
Oh Pam, this is nasty. I see hazmat suits in someones future (I feel so sorry for whomever has to clean it). Obviously this person has some issues and hopefully he will get some help while incarcerated (at least detox).
Perhaps he could have recycled the cans for the rent money?

OMG!!! That absolutely wins the prize for the filthiest tenant ever. Unbelievable how he could be so lazy, and not make any effort to clean up. He lived on beer and Chinese food it seems. Wow! Hope you can get it back to livable. So sorry this happened to you.
Sharon, We estimate it was about a 6-month period that he started living this way.
Larry, We didn't even recycle the cans because he used them as a toilet. Urine in most of them..... Feces in pizza boxes, etc...
We had to do the clean up. It was disgusting! And then we had to fix the damange it caused.
Pam, what a sad situation all around, he lost his job and it looks like he lost all hope. He was probably depressed because he didn't have a job then started drinking excessively and therefore he could not function like a normal human being. And he ended up making a horrific mess in your rental unit. Best of luck with the new tenants.
Pam, He started drinking before he lost his job. Drinking is what started his downhill plummet. He went off the wagon. It's still sad. However, while we were cleaning up feces & urine throughout the trash, house & sink and, paying for new carpet, pad and some subflooing to replace the 6-month new carpet & Pad we were not feeling quite as sympathetic.
Pam, that made is worse. Way too many adjectives going through my mind on this one. GROSS!
Jacque
Pam that is truly shocking! I just wanted to stop by and wish you a Prosperous 2012 your real estate connection from Los Angeles, Endre
Hi Pam, I have had clients turn pale when I tell them that an appraiser will be entering their home. At that moment I know there is a hoarding situation at hand and we need to re-group before moving forward on refinancing their home.
I don't want a borrower to waste money (or an appraiser to waste their time) on a house that won't appraise. You can't tell by someone's appearance what the interior of their home is like. It was shortly after the reality show came out that I met my first hoarder here in Spokane and the home was unbelievable. I feel very sorry for these people and their families.
I had the worlds worst tenants..they signed a lease to a property I own..quikly fell behind on the rental payments..in 6 months I gave them an eviction notice as they were stripping the property of copper and hvac equipment..they sued me and stayed til the courts heard the case..almost 9 months[canadas legal system is slow and slanted toward tenants] I won on all counts..it took another month to get them out and the damage to the building and grounds was unbelievable. they stole all the copper hot water baseboard heaters..stripped copper out of the ground stripped copper from transformers..never through out garbage[ I hired 4 40 cubic yard bins full] hoarded everything..I have hundreds of fotos. The building was an X government facility with on site generator and coaxle cables to receiving towers...so they were clearly there soley to steal copper and silver..you wouldnt believe how these people squatted. they had 2 honda generators and banks of batteries ..they had led liting and heated a bathtub with a lobster pot burner..they had to fill the tub with a makeshift hose as there was no plumbing left!!!
I am glad this is not full sensory TV. The smell has to be gross.
