Scalability
You may have been reluctant to hire or unable to retain a part-time assistant because your business volume flows and ebbs at different times of the year. In the spring and summer time you probably have plenty of steady business coming in, so there is lots of steady work available for a part-time assistant. However, when fall rolls around business the business volume (and therefore work volume) starts declining rapidly and by winter it’s all been reduced to a trickle. If you can’t provide steady work for so many months of the years local assistants will tend to quit in favor of a job providing steady work year round.
Scalability is another advantage of working with offshore teams of virtual assistants. They can provide on-demand services to match your business volume year round. In fall and winter they can still provide a single worker who is likely working with several clients simultaneously put can still provide the service you need when you need it. When spring and summer arrive you can inform the team leader you expect increased volume and they can ensure there is adequate knowledge transfer on how to do your work as well as allocate an adequate number of workers to get trained before the work volume increases and be prepared to handle your work in timely fashion, regardless of your volume.
Reduced Training Expenses
If you hire a local assistant they will no doubt take considerable time learning your processes and the software you use. You will have to pay for your first offshore worker to do the same, but thereafter knowledge transfer to subsequent employees will typically be borne by the overseas team. These overseas workers will also be aware of and trained in the latest software (eg. the latest versions of Microsoft Office), often without you having to bear any expense for this training.
