Live Highlands Ranch : Take Christmas to the Troops
When watching the news this evening I saw a story about a young woman who is collecting items to send to Afghanistan. I wanted to share this story with you if you'd like to donate.

When you look at the family photos, you see all the things that make for holiday memories. There are twinkling lights on a Christmas tree, garland, food and family.
They are the things Whitney Montoya associates with the holidays.
This year, she is trying to provide as many of those things as possible for her cousin, Tonya Henderson who is deployed in Afghanistan.
"She posted on Facebook at the beginning of November to say that their platoon wanted to have a Christmas party and they were asking for stuff to celebrate," Montoya said. "It is pretty important for them to have Christmas, just like it is important for us to have Christmas, so I reposted it as soon as I saw her post."
She has been working with family and friends to collect decorations and non-perishable foods to send to Henderson.
The soldiers requested the following items: Garland, tinsel, mistletoe, lights, Chritmas CD's, hanging snowflakes, Christmas cookies, Christmas table clothes (plastic), candy canes, glue, glitter, small stockings for candy, powder punch drink, non-alcoholic champagne, olives, pickles, crackers, Chex mix and Christmas tree ornaments.
The soldiers have one other special request: They'd like a Santa Claus suit.
"I think they deserve to know that we do care and that we are here thinking of them and missing them on Christmas." Montoya said.
She plans to collect items during the next week before shipping them off to Afghanistan. If enough items are collected, they plan to find another platoon to support this holiday.
Items can be droppped off at three Panorama Orthopedic locations next Monday through Thursday. Those locations are: Golden, 550 Golden Ridge Rd., Suite 250 7:00 am - 5:00 pm, Golden; Westminster, 8510 Bryant St., #120, Westminster 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Littleton, 7851 Elati St., Suite 103, Littleton 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
Items can also be dropped off at Clement Park this Friday November 25th from noon to 4:00 pm. They will be set up on the east side of the park off of South Pierce Street.
