Join Rockland County NY's Thanksgiving 5 Mile Turkey Trot!
For those of you who love all the Thanksgiving fare and want to make some tummy room for that turkey with all the trimmings - here's your chance to work off those calories in advance by joining Rockland Road Runners in their 5 mile Thanksgiving Turkey Trot. Now, in its 20th year, it's become the largest running event in Rockland County, NY and attracts people from all over the NY metro area as well as Rockland.
The race benefits several local charitable organizations among them People to People of Rockland and the Marisa Fund
The Turkey Trot will take place on November 25, 2010 starting at 8:30 a.m. in Rockland Lake State Park’s north parking lot number 1. The first two miles of the course are rolling hills, the last three miles are flat.

Pre-race registration and packets can be picked up on Monday, Nov 21, Tuesday, Nov 22, and Wednesday, Nov 23, at the Palisades Center in West Nyack at Bravo Restaurant, 4th Floor between 12 noon - 8:00pm
For those that Pre-register, you get a free long-sleeved shirt.
People also can register on race day between 6:45 and 7:30 a.m. (but no free shirts) tough registration on the day of the race is limited.
The fee for running is $25 ($20 for RRR members). Seniors 65 and older can pay $20 by pre-registering.
People are asked to contribute to the People to People food drive for distribution to needy families in the county.

If you want to make room for that turkey dinner while also exercising and supporting a positive cause, come join the run. You can run, jog, or even just walk fast for the five miles. The venue, Rockland Lake State park, is gorgeous, so while you run, jog or walk, you get to enjoy some of the best scenery in the county. Parking is limited, so if you plan on joining try to arrive no later than 7:30AM.
