Chapter 3 ~ The Thanksgiving Dinner Explosion
Ava was not riding very well in the car this morning on the way to her parents home... she had tried eating crackers before getting out of bed to calm the nausea but it didn't quite do it. Jacob was still clueless about the new baby. Ava just couldn't get ready to tell him ... maybe it would be better to tell him in front of others... he would control his anger better if there were other people present and he always was in control in front of her parents.
That was the answer and today would be the perfect day. She would simply make the announcement during Thanksgiving dinner to everyone, including Jacob.
Jacob didn't have any family. Ava thought maybe that was the reason he seemed to live angry a lot. He had told her that they all died in house fire when he was small. The firemen had only been able to rescue Jacob and he had been raised in an orphanage so he didn't even have adoptive family. There had been burns on his face but a caring plastic surgeon had donated his services so that all traces of the scars were gone.
Ava dreaded telling Jacob that they were going to be parents. He had not had a happy childhood in the orphanage and fearing bringing small ones into this world. What if something happened to him and Ava? What if their children wound up in an orphanage lihe he did? He was not going to take that chance. They had agreed, "No Children."
Now what? She was not about to abort the baby. Maybe by announcing the pregnancy over Thanksgiving Dinner, Jacob would realize how happy it was going to make her parents and also that if something happened to the two of them, her parents would raise the baby.
Jacob parked the car next to Steve's car, Ava's brother. There were 7 cars parked in front of the house. Joan, Ava's mom was hurrying out the door to meet them with a big smile on her face. It was going to be a wonderful happy Thanksgiving!
