Seller, "What do you mean, there's something wrong"?

This is why a home inspection is so important.  I like Clint's idea about pre sale home inpections.  It is a small price to pay to avoid some big poetential problems at the last minute.

Seller, "What do you mean, there's something wrong"?

When inspecting homes I run into all kinds of "issues" that need to be adderessed.

Here are a few more that the seller thought was not an "issue".

When the seller was contacted by their Realtor to talk about the "issues" the seller responded by saying "what do you mean, there's something wrong"?

"My husband did all the work in the attic and there is nothing wrong with what he did. Eveerything has worked just fine since he did the work".

Really? let's take a look.

Unattached sky lite.

Here is a sky lite tha is not connected. When the installed had installed it origanally, it was connected. But it was connected useing "duct tape". With the extreme heat in the attics in this part of the country, you cannot use duct tape as a feastener. Only as a Duct sealer. Also no mastic sealer was used on the seams.

Unattached second bath vent.

Believe it or not, this vent is attached to the second bath power vent. Then just ran into the attic. It also is not connected to an exterior vent.

Notice all the lint and dust in the attic. This is a fire hazard. One small spark and all up in flames.

Have a Great Thanksgiving everyone.

Good post Jon, and excellent "evidence"!  Wow, one good thing is that pictures dont"t lie!  I guess this is the kind of results you'd expect when a non-professional does the work! Something to be learned here: PLEASE PEOPLE! GET A LICENSED WORKER TO PERFORM ANY WORK IN YOUR HOME, FORGET ABOUT SAVING DOLLARS, SAVE YOUR LIVES AND THINK OF SAFETY!

Deborah, Edward and Celia,

Thanks for commenting.  Go to Clint's orignial post.  My comment to him was about one of our inspectors that spend one day under a house for  6 hours cornered by a badger in the crawl space.  It charged him every-time he tried to get to the outlet.  Finally the owner came home and the noise above caused hime to freak and run up an unconnected duct.  Thank God for the sloppy duct work heh?

I read somewhere about a home inspector dying from poisoning from an inspection in a crawl space.  I bet there are lots of stories out there and I would really like to hear more of them.  Thanks again.  Happy TG.  I am not new to the internet and Real Estate websites but I am new to ActiveRain.  My outside blog is www.BoiseRealEstateWebsite.com.  I would love comments there and I would like to read your blogs especially your outside blogs too!
