Happy Thanksgiving -- I hope You Enjoy an Authentic Mexican Meal Today - Turkey

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Venture Realty International

Clipart - TurkeyYou may not have realized it but the domestic turkey originated in the Yucatán in Mexico.

The Aztecs had domestic turkeys before the Spanish arrived.  In fact the Spanish took turkeys to Europe and domestic turkeys even came back to the Americas with the Pilgrims.

So today I am thankful to Mexico for our holiday birds.

There are also a lot of other dishes that you may have on your holiday table that originated in Latin America.

Some of them are: Sweet potatoes, corn, tomatoes, potatoes, avocados, pineapples and possibly pumpkins.

I hope you and your family enjoy your Thanksgiving -- especially the parts that are courtesy of Mexico and the rest of Latin America.

Oh yum!!! Mexican food is my absolute favorite! So I'm not surprised to find that domestic turkey's come from Mexico. It makes perfect sense! Thank you for the little lesson, I had no idea.

I really enjoyed visiting with you. Hope you took a break and had some turkey, then a little Siesta!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Your post is making me hungry.  I think I'll go have a sandwich.  I had no idea about the origin of domestic turkeys before now.  Just glad they finally made it back here.
