My dog ate my homework… in Colorado Springs. I wrote this blog Friday. Not Black Friday. A week ago Friday, I typed a few paragraphs and thought I’d download before and after photos from my latest interior redesign project on Saturday. Didn’t happen. Here’s the culprit. My sweet, 7-month Golden Retriever, Scout (the good child, 7 yr. old Maggie, knows better) chewed through the power cord and I wasn’t able to download my pics. Then began the migration of out-of-state relatives flying in to share turkey at our house which, as anyone who hosts Thanksgiving knows, begins the time warp. It doesn’t end until the last of the leftovers have been devoured (tonight) and everyone packs up to return to their normal routine. So now armed with a new camera (an early Christmas gift, thanks Scout) I can blog and post photos in the rain again.
This past week I had the pleasure to complete an interior redesign project for a beautiful family of six. Dad serves proudly in the U.S. Army and Mom, along with their oldest son (1 of 4 boys), kick-started an events planning company (weddings, showers, christenings). And, they are thriving. Call it luck, hard work (definitely hard work), the grace of God, bottom line – they were in the right place at the right time when they purchased their lovely home. All the planets were aligned. I was blessed to receive this referral from fellow stager, Brenda Peterson, of Parker, CO.
The scope of this job included color consulting (paint recommendations) and redesign (similar to staging in that you use existing furnishings and recommend a few high-impact accessories) of the living, dining, family rooms, kitchen, powder and master bedroom. Here's a glimpse at the family room.
Its incredibly rewarding to see a happy client's expression and know their “nest” is as it should be, a reflection of their personalities and what they hold dear. When you’re following your heart and are true to your passion, work will follow. Their smiles and gratefulness were a source of inspiration to me this week. What a pleasure. Thank you, Hugo and Irene!
Cheers to you and your nest!
