I have a car phone.

Way before cell phones became a common and needed piece of apparell.  I was gifted a car phone. I renamed it my bag phone.  It was a cool thing to have back in 1991.  Just plug it into your cigarette lighter(accessory jack, today) or have the complete mobility with the internal battery, which by the way was 90% of the bag.

It was a cool thing to have? I have a car phone....  As a Realtor, I looked important.  Lawyers had them so should we.  We need them to stay "in touch".  Problem was, who was I going to call?  Home?  From the driveway?(coverage wasn't that good back in 1991) and at 50 cents a minute if your not roaming? $$$$$$$$$$$$

Since then I've had many phones, each smaller than the previous and with more features that I can ever use but they'll never beat the rugged look of the grandaddy Bagphone. Look at that flexible antenna!  The lit up large key pad. Priceless.

Oh yes, had one of those "bag phones" too, and each one of them gets smaller after that point. I like looking at old movies and seeing the characters in swanky sport cars with clunker phones!

Hi Ross - We played golf one day long ago with a broker who had one of the first mobile phones - bigger than yours by a bit, but same two-part look, big grey metal battery and no bag. It was very impressive, and we were also impressed with the constant stream of phone calls he got during our play - a very important and busy guy. Only we found out a bit later that he had his secretary call him every 15 minutes so we would think exactly that. What a dork!

Call a Marana neighbor, I'm THERE!

HA!  This was a funny reminder of how technology evolves.  Makes me recal a James Bond movie where the cordless phone was about the size of a man's shoe....  Happy New Year!
