Get The Interior Of Your St. Louis Home Ready To Sell

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty - Chesterfield

In my previous post, I talked about depersonalizing and removing clutter from your house.  This is so important as you want the potential buyer to be able to envision themselves with their things living in your house.  You also want to create the appearance of space in your houe by removing clutter.  Your goal is to have as few negative impressions upon potential buyers as possible.

Other interior items that you MUST consider when getting your St. Louis home ready to sell.

Flooring.  Only replace the carpet if it appears old and worn or if it is an outdated style and/or color.  When replacing the carpet stick with a fairly neutral color that will appeal to most buyers.  If you are keeping the carpet, make sure you get the carpets cleaned.  Replace or repair broken floor tiles. Kitchen Sink

Plumbing and Fixtures.  Sink fixtures should be shiny and new looking and free from dripping.  If the faucet is leaking, replace the washers.

Doors and Windows.  Spray windows and doors with WD40 for easy operation and to eliminate squeeks.  If there are any cracked or broken windowpanes, be sure to replace.  Clean door handles and around the door handles.  Buyers open and close doors and you want to create a positive impression.

Ceilings, Walls and Paint.  Check your ceilings for water stains.  If you have an active leak from plumbing or the roof, get it repaired before you put your house on the market.   Check your walls for stains and dirt.  The Magic erasers work well on dirt and stains.  Consider paiting your rooms if you have some bold colors.  It is not very expensive and could be your best investment when selling your home.  Do not choose a color based on your preference.  You should go with a neutral color that would appeal to most buyers.  Neutral colors also create the look of more space.

SkunkOdors.  For those who smoke in the house, consider purchasing an ozon spray to eliminate odors.  You may want to consider smoking outside while your house is on the market.  If you have pets, you will have odors.  Empty that kittly litter box daily.  Sprinkle on some carpet freshener on a regular basis.

St. Louis real estate is a buyers market so you want your home to stand out from the competition. If you are thinking of selling your home, I can help you stand out from the competition.  Call me for a free seller's consultation.
