Getting Your St. Louis Home To Sell - Outside Fixes

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty - Chesterfield

The exterior of your home is the most important.  A homebuyer's first impression is based on his or her view of the house from their car when they pull into the driveway.  You want the WOW curb appeal to set yourself apart from the competition.

Landscaping.  Look at what type of landscaping your neighbors have.  If it is not comparable to theirs, install a few bushes.  Do not put in trees.  Immature trees do not add much value to the appearance of the house.  If it is spring or summer and you have an area to plant, put in some flowers.  Check with a nursery to see what types of flowers the deer will not eat.  Make sure your lawn is regularly cut, edged and watered and free from brown spots.  Trim shrubs if landscaping is overgrown.

THE Front Door.  The front door must be especially sharp.  It is the entryway to their potential home.  Polish door fixtures and paint or stain as needed.  Make sure the keys work properly.  If the showing real estate agent has trouble with the lock, this sends a negative first impression to the potential homebuyer.  Put a new doormat at the front door.

House Exterior.  Take a look at the exterior of your home.  Does it look faded and worn or is the paint cracking?  If so, you really should consider painting.

St. Louis real estate is a buyers market so you want your home to stand out from the competition. If you are thinking of selling your home, I can help you stand out from the competition.  Call me for a free seller's consultation.
