The weather was warm today, and we took advantage of it. Low tide was in the minus zone, when the ocean recedes to below ground level and opens up an expanse of sand. These pictures were taken before the full expression of low tide, which would happen 2 hours later. Along the way, we took a shot of my favorite home, a large Italianate villa with great arches!
We spoke to a fisherman who pointed out a pod of dolphins swimming behind the break line, which indicated that the fish were plentiful, and he was hoping to catch some local halibut. We met people from back East who were delighted to be spending their Thanksgiving weekend in Carpinteria in shorts and flipflops.
Then we met this adorable dog who bounded over to us to make friends, followed by her owner and her dog brother, a magnificent boxer. She is a Shiba Inu, a Japanese dog descendant of the Japanese fox. We had fun discussing dogs, and he let us know that this petite elegant dog is the pack leader. We love watching dogs at the beach, they have a way of expressing their joy that is palpable.
It was definitely a great Saturday to relax, enjoy and appreciate our respite from a very busy month.
