Call me Ishmael...
Okay, Ms. VT, here is what I was trying to describe to you and yes, I have put in a request for the recipe. I saw another post where I think they did cherry pie instead of the pumpkin pie. But your pumpkin cheesecake would be divinely fine. Thanks for the special Holiday dinner and the Wreath Party help, too !
We're hosting Thanksgiving later this evening. And I just learned that my sister, who's invited over along with her family, is bringing something called a Pumpple Cake.
Now, I didn't know what a Pumpple Cake was, so I looked it up. Oh-My-Gosh!
This is the great White Whale of cakes. Now, that doesn't mean it smells like fish, or is difficult to harpoon. It means it's big. And loaded with calories.
I'm sure you've heard of Turducken. That's where they stuff a Chicken inside a Duck, inside a Turkey. "Tur-Duc-ken". Sounds decadent, doesn't it. Well, this Cake takes that kind of thinking to the next level.
The Pumpple Cake follows a similar concept. It takes an entire pumpkin pie, and an apple pie and bakes them inside a vanilla & chocolate cake fused together, with those pies right inside them. (don't forget to remove the pie tins) and then coated with butter-cream icing.
That's right... a chocolate & vanilla cake that's swallowed an entire apple and pumpkin pie. (does that qualify as cannibalism?)
The Pumpple Cake that my sister is bringing weighs 12 pounds, and is approximately 1,800 calories a slice. (heck, I'm gaining weight just writing about it). This is not a dessert for the timid. I doubt, very seriously, whether Mrs. Elvis will even have a bite. I can hear her head shaking even now.
