Shower Renovation Now This is a Shower (if I do say so myself...)

When working on our home we had no idea what we got ourselves into.  After all everything looks different on paper.  Well, as the walls, pipes and wires were going up we realized our new shower was “a bit” larger than we had realized.  There wasn’t much choice based on the configuration of our space but it still caught us off guard.  As the plumber was doing his work we were asked if we planned on installing anything in addition to a standard shower head? Again as first timers at this we had to make some quick decisions.  We realized one shower head in a 7 ft by 4 ft shower wasn’t going to feel right.  So back to the bathroom appliance store we went and ordered body sprays and a handheld to turn our “modest” shower into an industrial people washer.

Just take a look at all the handles now required to work this shower.  I might have to get a degree in water management and maintenance just to use everything.

We also thought we were smart to have the handheld installed toward the back of the shower so it can be easily used while sitting on the bench.  Not to mention that if you position everything just right you can probably get a shower done in 1-2 minutes.

I for one look forward to using our human car wash and hanging out in the new shower while getting a rocky foot massage.

This is pretty interesting. We redid our master bath and one of the things we did that was not done here is we put the controls on the opposite end of the shower away from the nozzle. This way you turn on and adjust the water with out getting soaked

We love our oversized shower, but you are correct, two shower heads is part of what makes it!

Joseph, When we hear about a water shortage...we know who to blame. Looks like you could actually conserve if everyone showered at the same time. Enjoy! Hope to see you in Baltimore soon.

Margaret - I don't know about everyone but we can definitely try...  Stay tuned just used it for the first time and it is even better than I thought.  I might have to blog about the experience - it was just that good...

Love the size and the tile -- both color and the diagonal lay-out! We put in a large shower (although not as large as yours!) about 6 years ago and I feel every day like I am in a luxury hotel bathroom! SO worth it. Hmmm, might have to post photos of our shower now . . .

Amy - hotel, spa, water park it is all good.   Knowing what I know now I would have added 6 more body sprays.  It just washes away any and all problems.  Would love to see photos of your shower too.

This shower looks awesome! Though I don't know how much water I will be saving if this makes me extend my time in the shower!

Donald - Thanks and we just got a water bill and thankfully it was pretty consistent with prior bills.

Josef, one thing you could do, for your next bathroom remodeling project, is installing a 12" rain shower coming down from the ceiling. Not in addition, but instead of the shower head on the wall.

Alex,

We thought about a rain shower but we had to cut somewhere.  You know how construction gets one things leads to the next and so on.
