Sometimes you get that perfect "make it happen" client who makes this job a blast. In a closing today, I had to tell my client that the listing agent forgot to leave the keys at her new property, and he didn't get them to the closer prior to closing for the property.
"No problem," she said. She had a couple errands to run prior to going to her new purchase. We agreed that I would run down the agent and snag the keys. Then, I would meet her there in a couple hours.
Now, in the back of my mind I knew she was going to be in the house when I got there, but I went through with the plan anyway. Of course, when I pulled up, there she was, coming out of the house. She had used her credit card to open the door, and she had already climbed up on the roof to do a little patch work. When I was leaving, she was getting ready to crawl under the house to check for any plumbing leaks.
The house was a foreclosure that was winterized and the bank wouldn't de-winterize it for inspections. Did she want out? No way! So, we went into it blindly. Did that bother her? Not at all. She is a make it happen kind of person.
She had shuffled funds around to make the sale work as a cash sale since it wouldn't pass a number of common loan requirements. She had a clearly spelled out plan to get the house in order. The plan was for her daughter to move into the house by this Saturday.
A good contractor would have trouble making all of the changes by this Saturday, but I have a feeling her daughter will be moving on Saturday. She amazed me at every turn, and I have a feeling we'll be doing this again. I love my job (most days).
