The Newtown Historic Association presents its 49th annual Open House Tour this Saturday, December 3 from 10 am to 4 pm.
Six private homes and six public buildings, including the Half-Moon Inn will be on view in Historic Newtown Borough. All the homes in this year’s tour can be reached by foot from the Half-Moon Inn. All tour properties will be decorated for the holidays.
Each of the homes on the tour have historic significance and tour guides will be on hand in each home to discuss its historic features. The Half-Moon Inn will feature period musical entertainment, hearthside colonial cooking demonstrations, re-enactors from the colonial period and will be serving mulled cider and cheese.
No pictures will be allowed inside the homes and tour participants are asked to refrain from wearing high heels in to the homes. All proceeds from the tour benefit the Newtown Historic Association. The tour is the biggest fundraiser for the Association.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased in advance at Newtown Hardware House or online at The Newtown Historic Association’s website, www.newtownhistoric.org. On tour day, tickets can be purchased at the Half-Moon Inn, Court Street and Centre Avenue and at the Stocking Works, 301 South State Street, Newtown. Rain Date for the tour in Sunday December 4.
