Part of having an active presence online is monitoring and tracking the traffic and interaction you are seeing in all aspects of your internet marketing. From your website to your Facebook business page, there are several marketing tools that you may have set up by now that are meant to translate into new business. Many real estate agents use Google Analytics to track their online presence, which is a great tool to use. In March of this year, Google rolled out a new analytics interface. Up until this point, people have had the option to either convert to the new platform or use the old one. As of January, however, that will change: you will be required to use the new Google Analytics platform.
Don’t panic! If you haven’t converted to the new Google Analytics interface yet, you should be excited to utilize some of the new tracking tools. The new features allow you to track different aspects of your online presence faster and to pinpoint which aspects of your internet marketing are getting the most traffic. As your real estate virtual assistants, we have done a little digging and thought we’d highlight some of the best features of the new Google Analytics platform. Here are just a few:
• The dashboards. Under the new Google Analytics, you can create up to twenty personalized dashboards with various formats and widgets that make the most sense for what you’re monitoring. If you have more than one area of expertise, for example, you can create a couple different dashboards that monitor the residential part of your website vs. the commercial aspect, or foreclosures vs. single family homes. Tracking each part of your website separately will help you see where you are getting the most conversion, and that can help you get more business.
• Keyword clouds. Particularly if you utilize blogging as a marketing platform, knowing what keywords to use is very important. Having the right SEO-friendly verbiage is imperative to moving yourself up the Google rankings. Keyword clouds allow you to enter a specific set of criteria and see exactly which keywords are most effective, allowing you to customize your blog accordingly. This is an invaluable tool for when you write your website copy or blog posts.
• Real-time data. The old Google Analytics had a 24 hour delay of data after each website visit. Now, you can see the activity on your website in real time, as its happening. This is an awesome feature that can help you monitor which times of day your website or social media sites get the most traffic.
• Social engagement. From how many visits each page gets to how long people spend on each social networking site, this great tool allows you to see which social media sites are successful, which aren’t and what sort of content is getting results. Having an active presence on Facebook and Twitter is just as important as having a great website in this current consumer culture, so if you’re not utilizing this tool, you will want to start doing so.
There are several other important aspects of the new Google analytics platform that you should be using, but these are just a few that stood out as being particularly important. In order to keep your online presence, current, relevant and effective, you need to be utilizing analytics and implementing them into your online marketing strategy.
If you need help with revamping your website, setting up a social media presence or maintaining your neglected blog, don’t hesitate to ask your real estate virtual assistant for help. Whether you’re looking for advice or need help getting set up, we’re happy to help take some of this off your plate and let you focus on what you do best: selling homes.
Make it a great day!
