Boettcher Mansion in Golden, CO
Did you know that Colorado is home to a number of Great Stone Castles? It is true! Although not Castles in the traditional sense, many homes and buildings in Colorado were built to resemble the amazing European giants. The Boettcher Mansion is one of these homes. Located on top of Lookout Mountain, the Boettcher Mansion was built in the 1900’s for the Boettcher family to be like socialites in the area who wanted a summer home in the country. It was built from locally found materials and designed by local Denver architects to resemble the Tudor style. After being donated to Jefferson County, the Boettcher Mansion has been remodeled turned into a historic gem and event center.
The views and lands around the Boettcher Mansion are perfect for a mid-day walk. Head down to the Carriage House, which now holds small events, or to the Gazebo where it is rumored that Charles Boettcher enjoyed hunting. A perfect setting for the company holiday party, or a dream wedding, the Mansion also allows self guided tours from 8am-4pm, Monday through Friday. With the holidays coming up, there are certain times blocked so make sure to call before heading out. Bring the family to check out the historically accurate furnishings and design in, what is surely, Colorado’s most beautiful stone castle!
