Yes, I Know It's Not Kansas -- But It Was A Windy Night in Pasadena CA and the San Gabriel Valley
I am well aware that to the outside world, Californians are often accussed of being somewhat wimpy when it comes to difficult weather situations. Well, we had some pretty wild winds overnight in the Pasadena, California area and throughout the foothills of the San Gabriel Valley. Some reports stated the winds were up to 100 miles per hour. Others have said nothing like this has occurred in over fifty years. Many said they couldn't sleep. Animals were restless.
It was certainly not business as usual today. Power is still out for many. Businesses closed. Schools shuttered. And then there were the trees...... Our area is known for the many majestic trees lining our streets...it was sad to see many had fallen overnight.
If you need to travel .... do so safely. Schools in Pasadena, South Pasadena, Arcadia, Duarte, Temple City and Monrovia will be closed Friday, December 2 to allow time for additional clean-up. La Canada Flintridge students will be notified Friday morning. Surprisingly, it was reported that San Marino Unified Schools will be open -- even though many in the city are still without power.
