Patchogue Gets a New Bilingual Branch of Bethpage Federal Credit Union

Bethpage Federal Credit Union has twenty-five locations on Long Island. Twelve of these locations are bilingual. A grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremoony for the new Patchogue branch located at Route 112 and E. Main Street was held yesterday.

A bank spokeswoman, Audrey Cohen, was quoted as saying that "Bethpage is in the midst of aggressive Suffolk County expansion with emphasis on servicing minority populations."

It feels like the proper time has come for a market niche such as this.

Good Sunday morning. We have a beautiful day in Maryland. Have a great week and enjoy the holidays as you prepare for an outstanding new year.

This is a good time of the year to visit Colonial Williamsburg.  Dolores and I like to see all of the decorations that are made with natural materials.

Ellen - it's a promise.

Pam - Yes, I know that about that portion of Florida. I speak French semi-fluently. The banks are referring to Spanish as the second language.

Roy - Now that is unusual. Artichokes and sliced lemons? There is beauty everywhere.

I was going to ask which language, but you've already answered my question. My husband and I were chattting about languages yesterday; in many (most?) other countires two languages are taught and people become fluent in both. I wish that were the case here.

Hi Lottie - Yes, of course that's true. I also wish it were the case here. We just expect that everyone else will know how to speak english and the thing is, they mostly do.

I'm curious as to what the second language is. Here we never know until we look because we have large populations of people speaking Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, Tagalog....
