Kill two birds with one stone? I think not!

Just as I begin my pre-licensing course for my Florida Real Estate license my home renovation began.  Being the ultimate multi-tasker I thought "why not get going on my license while my house is being renovated?". I mean how much could they possibly need from me while they are working on my kitchen?

Well, obviously a lot!  I won't begin to bore you with the chaos that ensued upon arrival of the crew that had no idea what they were supposed to do when they got to my house.  Other than saying that when They started a day late due to someone neglecting to order the dumpster for the demo I knew I was in trouble.  Once demo got started we found a termite infestation in the kitchen (and to think we have been paying Orkin for three years to protect our home!). They pulled up the tile in the bathroom and found wood rot, oh yeah, and more termites!  So on top of remodeling the kitchen, now we have to totally rip out the bathroom and start over!  Did I mention that my in-laws are coming for Christmas?

So, when I tell you with a heavy heart (and a lot of frustration) that I haven't had two minutes to take the state exam, you'll have a better understanding of what is taking me so long.....Oh, I've been reading and studying every day so when I do have two minutes to take the test I will be ready.  I'm shooting for next week....wish me luck.  When I find another two minutes I will upload some before and after pics of the renovation.

For now I hope you are all enjoying your holiday season!

Hang in there. I know its frustrating but remember to look at the positive.

A) better to discover what you did sooner rather than later as the longer those pests were destroying wood the more potential for serious injury would occur.

B) if you are going to be in a mess again better to get it all out ofthe way at once than remodel then find out you have to destroy your remodle to cure the problem

C) you may have a claim against Orking if you have been paying them for 3 yrs and may cover a lot of your remodel.

Anyway hang in there it WILL get better and good luck on your test!

Oh what we can discover when we uncover what was hiding it. We must always be prepared for the unexpected.

Sounds like you definitely have your plate full.  I'm sure things will come together in the nick of time.  And I can't wait to read that you've passed the Florida state real estate exam.
