This worthy and much needed and appreciated project is underway again this year. You can help by donating a coat that will keep a needy child warm this season.
The Rotary Club of Ventura, Four Seasons Cleaners and several other Rotary clubs are conducting the annual Coats for Kids project.
Rotary plans to collect, clean and distribute thousands of coats and jackets of all sizes by Dec. 31, to keep children and adults warm this winter.
The groups hope to collect 10,000 coats this year. Collection boxes will be distributed to businesses, schools, government centers and public parks in Ventura County. The cleaned coats will be delivered to service organizations and schools in the community such as Sheridan Way Elementary, Salvation Army and Casa Pacifica. The Rotary Club of Ventura also distributes coats at its annual Christmas party.
More than 50 needy elementary school students will select coats for themselves and for members of their families.
Because of the current economic situation in our community, the need for coats for our citizens is greater than ever before. With the hard work and dedication of the members of the Rotary Clubs of Ventura, ten thousand citizens will be warm this winter. Making the world a better place to live, one coat at a time, is a goal worth achieving. Rotary Clubs are dedicated to improving the lives of others.
