The User Personality vs. The Giver

User DudeWe all have elements of give and take in us and the full force takers could do better at giving and the purest givers could reward themselves a little now and then in my mind and stop being such saints among us.

BUT there is a form of the taker you need to be aware of that does not show sincerity with their giving.

      They are the User Personality.

It is a give to get. Use you or a situation up then discard you on the trash heap in climbing the ladder in life, in love, in work. A key thought of theirs is what do they get OUT of something, not realizing life does not truly work that way. What matters is what you put INTO life. The what you get out (as a sincere giver) is a byproduct, a result, a karma if you will of all you have put into something. Time invested in a loved one, practice on a skill, diligent study with education, etc. It ALL comes home to roost in the end. Users are exploitive in nature and have not found out that the road they are on leads nowhere and to emptiness.

Remind these people when you see them not to love things and use people, but to love people and use things.

Gary, thanks for these words of wisdom.  It is wise for us to evaluate on a regular basis how we relate to people.   It is too easy when our business is money to not be sincere about relationships.  What is our staying power?

Gary, I struggle with takers who know how to get what they want through manipulation then act you no longer exist in the world until the next cycle comes around...my clients know that I care about them and will help guide them to the most important decisions they will be making.

Gary, those folks usually don't "see" the attributes you described in themselves ... they haven't a clue... it is OF COURSE everyone else's problem!!!  If only people would pay attention to what they are trying to do!  (arghhhl)

Gary - I've met more than my fair share of these kinds of people - they are narcissists. They are only capable of thinking about themselves and if you aren't doing something for you - they have no use for you. They also usually have a huge sense of entitlement like they are above everyone else. Worse personality out there if you ask me. I do my best to side step these people - can't stand to be around them.

Those are people to avoid if at all possible, reminding them aboout the value of others doesn't do much good.  (Or maybe it was how I reminded them?)
