I was eating breakfast this morning at McDonalds with my family. There was a pretty scruffy looking guy seated a couple of tables over who was just sitting there snoozing.
My good friend of mine(a baptist preacher) walked up and handed this guy a cup of coffee and a sausage biscuit and told him someone else asked him to deliver it. Needless to say I was embarrassed that I had not thought to help this guy.
My wife encouraged me to go over and talk to this guy which I did. I spent about 20 minutes with him asking all types of stories. He said he left the corrupt city of Chicago in October riding his bike. I live in West Tennessee so he has come a long way.
He told me he is a Christian and he goes to church. He is headed to Little Rock with plans to be in Memphis by tonight. He told me he slept in Walmart last night but often times he stays at truck stops along the way. His ultimate goal is California. He should be back on the road right now.
I offered to get him some shoes(he was wearing socks and sandles) but he declined my offer. This guy appears to be homeless but he assured me he was just riding his bike to Little Rock. My wife then visited with him awhile and prayed for his safe trip.
A guy motioned me over to talk to him and he told me he saw this guy in there last night sitting and snoozing and he was the one that bought that breakfast for the guy. I thanked him for helping him.
Each night as I pray with my daughters we always pray for the Lord to send us opportunities to serve him. One of my daughters was with us this morning and she got to witness first hand what we prayed for last night.
Who knows, this guy may be an angel just checking out the Lord's followers!
