If you missed the NAR Show you might want to read this

Unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to attend the recent NAR show in Anaheim. However, I did reach out to our extended team and I'm happy to report Terri Murphy, who was one of our speakers at the show, took time out of her busy schedule to share some of her observations.

For those of you who don't know Terri, Terri Murphy is a licensed Real estate broker, author, speaker, communication consultant, and e-strategist.  She is the author of 5 books, including one with Donald Trump.  She is the President of MurphyOnRealEstate and is CIO of U.S. Learning in Memphis.  And she is a great friend and supporter of KODAK.  If any of you would like to reach out to Terry her email is: Terri@TerriMurphy.com

Terri shares the following:

When NAR Anaheim opened the tradeshow floor with gusto, it become quickly apparent that there was commonality in the many options for education, forums and booths.  Although there was substantial diversity available, they seemed to possess a common thread:  How to connect with consumers with a more purposeful interactive experience.

In case you missed the convention, or some of the many booths and educational sessions, here are a few tips to get you up to speed:

  • Videos played a large part in the bid for attention on the trade show floor.  Big or small, exhibitors used full engagement with engaging video presentations as well as "games" that encouraged crowds to stay and participate.  Even the NAR Membership Information Services forum hosted tech experts that broke out into round tables.  Agents were scrambling to get seats a the various tables to get the scoop on the best tech ways to connect and convert prospects to profits....and video dominated the discussions.
  • Video rocks as long as the content fits in a context.  Expert video guru Michael Krisa (a.k.a. ThatInterviewGuy.com) was one of the many talents that hosted several short programs at the Kodak booth.  He spoke on the effectiveness of good video content with top audio quality to engage today's buyers and sellers.  Kodak's booth buzzed with activity as several lucky attendees won the ever popular PlayTouch Video Camera drawing offered every hour during the tradeshow.  With great audio and an easy plug in for external audio, and editing capabilities built in, this camera was a convention favorite for taking and uploading videos.
  • Cloud is King!  One of the most popular nuances of doing business today is the real time transfer of information using the latest office tools.  Imagine being able to send documents to your printer via email and having them transferred to be printed in real time?  Get a printer that works "in the cloud".  KODAK has full cloud printing capability, providing agents the ability to print photos, documents and emails from anywhere via smartphones, computer or tablets.  One of my favorite printers is the KODAK OFFICE HERO 6.1, which combines convenience with economy.  This printer can print from anywhere via the cloud, scans, copies and faxes and best of all, replacement cartridges are still under $30!
  • International anyone?  One of the most popular booths was the International booth where all the many countries and their representatives converged.  The internet has given us a global reach, with hyper-local result.  Be sure you are using the right tools to best connect with these groups as real-estate reaches beyond borders.  Working in the cloud becomes easier using tools and systems like Drop Box or SKYPE to best support long distance connections.  Cartavi.com was another super tool introduced at the convention.  Cartavi.com offers a free service that allows for the storing, managing and sharing of your documents with everyone in a real estate transaction in your own "transaction" room on the web.  It also provides a phone app to make it simple, efficient and safe especially with the complications of time zones and regular business hours.  With Cartavi's mobile apps, you can receive real time text or email notifications the minute something happens, keeping you in the center of your transactions.

The convention always offers new information, and if you missed it, you can still secure some great videos, posts and handouts by click on:  http://www.narconferencelive.com  Better yet, next time, be there to get the best of what's new for you!

Kim,

Still don't know what to do when I hear raves about the value of audio with video tours, etc. I also hear a number of negative comments about it's use. What are your thoughts?

I want to SELL your home, not LIST it!

Thanks for the update. It's interesting to see how popular video is becoming -- although many examples of its use in the real world leave a lot to be desired.  Just because a camera can take video shots doesn't make the user a producer!
