Sandia Ski Area Near Albuquerque Now Open

Hi Emily,  Ineed this latest storm is a huge blessing for the New Mexico Ski industry.  I see where Pie Town being the east side of the Sandias got 24 inches of the new white stuff. Love it!  I bet Santa Fe got even more.

Hi John,  Indeed the skiers a flocking to the slopes to enjoy the fresh powder and opened trails. 

Hey Debbie, This is such a blessing for everything New Mexico, we have been in a drought for far too long this will help a bit but we need much more.

Hi Joan,  New Mexico has some great ski areas but I know Colorado is the Ski Mecca, so wont miss out on much.  Sandia is small resort but fits the needs for local skiers and boarders just fine.  Taos is awesome and Emily's Santa fe as well.

Hi R&A,  The views are up there are spectacular, as they are with many ski resorts, you just cant enjoy that kind of altitude without having some phenomenal views..Sandia is no different.  Come on out we'd love to have you.

Hi Debb, We did get some powder for sure, but the storms quickly pass the sun takes its toll on the snow.  If you don't want to drive, that quick tram ride is a real treat and a quick ride home at the end of day.

Hey Jared, Oh yeah its fun, but its has been a few years since I stepped into some skies.  You would have to work hard a breaking you leg on skies or have a tech not fit you correctly.

Hey Steve, It can get warm indeed but we do experience winter indeed.  Just a had a big snow storm blow through and dumped some good snow all over NM.  You have to realize that ABQ is the other Mile High City.  It cold up there!

Hi Belinda,  Yep we a big storm, with snow and and wind creating havoc some parts of the State.  Albuquerque didnt that much but that is the norm, the other side of the mountain..being the ski area go hammered..Yeahh

Roger,  Its been a few years since I skied but loved it while doing it.  I love the outdoors anyway and this is just one more way to experience it.

Hi Dorie, Your folks have a wonderful resting place indeed.  We are luck to have the Sandia Mnts without them Albuquerque just would not be the same..It may not even be.

Anita,  Indeed big for the Skiers and for the business people in the local economy we needed it.

Toni, Sandia Peak really is a great place to visit all year. Its a great place to cool off after a hot day in the high desert as well.  Good fun for everyone.

Hi Joni,  My bride does not ski either and has the exact same sentiment.  You go I will drink Cocoa.  So Im game for snow date..Yall drink, the boys will ski. I have set up a twitter accnt, I have not acclimated to just yet.

Hi Mel,  Now that sounds like good fun, It would be hard to schedule golf and a ski run in the same weekend in the Q because that snow does not stick around for long. Angel fire is neat little resort town, my Dad at some point sold timeshares up there.

Hi Debbie,  They do offer some cross country trails, not necessarily at the resort but on that side of the mountain.  Always good fun, some families bring their tubes and sleds which is always a blast.

Hi Fred,  I think its all a matter of perspective..75 and humid sounds pretty good.  Actually were in Alabama now with rain all day and warm. A whole different world from what we left.

Hi Pacita,  There are a few really great ski areas in NM, Sandia is not one of them.  But Taos is a huge favorite and one of Debbie and I favorite places to go.  In the summer that is!

Marco, It is easy get to because of the Sunport but a Trip north to Taos would behoove you! Lots of black Diamonds if your into that.
