THE PRESS

Will Rogers, American humorist (1879 - 1935) said " I hope we never live to see the day when a thing is as bad as some of our newspapers make it."  Well put.  If you read or listen to news media reports these days, you might wonder if a roof over your head is worth any price! Well, we hope they visit Maine and learn of our local statisitics. Real Estate is local, and the recent Maine Real Estate Information System press release for September has some good news.  It ain't all that bad here in Maine. Oh, no, the reporters might think: That might be good news! Aside from being a lot more work to report (who wants to fish around for and interpret local stats when national and statewide averages are so easily accessible?), bad news keeps people watching!

I don't think they should be watching TV in that house of theirs that they've outgrown, or that apartment that they're dying to get out of; I think they should be buying homes!  So for better or worse, here's to sharing the good news!    The September 2007 Maine Housing Report indicates that statewide the number of homes sold are down over the same period in 2006 and the statewide average price has declined slightly.  However, the rolling quarter chart which breaks down the statistics by county shows that sales and pricing in Cumberland County has held its own.  Search Maine Properties on my website to find your piece of Maine before others learn of the "good news"

Way to go, Marie!  Preach the good news.  People are still buying and selling regardless of what the media reports.
