Life With Wee People: Mr Autism and Mr PDD-NOS on crayons, paint and cars...
Turns out Aunt Mona and Uncle John are my kids fave place to go play in Florida. They have a huge crayon and car stash over there. There's also yummy cookies and lots of kitchen wrestling going on to determine who gets control over what item of little minion interest (silly grin).
Noah loves to let Stephen win because it keeps his little brother happy, confident and bossy. Shorty usually shares after his triumphs so there's a method to the madness of letting him be the boss. It gives Stephen more opportunities to make decisions and chat about it later on.
In this case it took less than a minute for my cookie monsters to decide who got dibs on the orange cookies: Stephen, the Minion Blur of course. That left Noah the Net Geek free to eat all the other colors (smart boy) and run amok with the Sony taking pictures while Mr PDD-NOS indulged in an orange cookie sugar fest. We're still trying to figure out which kid got the better end of the deal (because Noah didn't eat any cookies last night - he was too busy taking pictures - LOL).
Mr. Autism gets distracted and a wee bit obsessive when it comes to photography (silly grin). Here's a couple of Noah's photographs taken during our visit:
He likes to experiment with effects and practices moving shots with still objects. The illusion of motion is kind of fascinating to both of us so I really enjoy watching him work. It took a couple of hours for the boys to arrange those cars and for Noah to create this shot. He's in the den practicing with more toys so today I'm taking the boys out on a photo-shoot to see what creative mischief we can get into while exploring Florida. FYI: That tin on the table is full of crayons. Aunt Mona and Uncle John's coffee table was their race track last night. I'm thinking we should take them to a real Go-Kart race track next week for a fun play-date.
Andretti Thrill Park offers exciting attractions, including: 5 Go-Kart Tracks, “The Minors” 18-Hole Miniature Golf, Andretti Edge, Batting Cages, Lazer Tag, Kiddie Rides, Playground, Wave Rave Paddle Boats, Train Rides, and the Space Coast’s Largest Arcade. My entire household is gaming and car crazy so this should be a fun Outside Blog Minion Report to do for Localism (LOL). ;-)
First I have to figure out the football schedule and work our play-date around it. Then I have to figure out how many wee people sporting events I can illustrate on these walls. My guys like sports and Stephen is NASCAR crazy so I have to make sure The Man Cave has an athletic/car theme... I'm in our garage staring at the walls going HMMM... this is a good place to start... Now if I could just actually start working and stop thinking about it (LOL). ;-)
If it doesn't rain today all of our stuff is going out in the drive and side yard. I have to get this floor cleaned so we can paint it. Can't do the walls until I do the floor because we haven't decided on a color yet... Dove grey? Battleship grey? Paynes grey? Mars black? Navy? A mottled hue blend rather than a flat solid? Yeah... painting concrete can be fun (LOL).
I was going to stash some of our garage stuff in the lanai but the wee people and I usually spend part of our nights and days painting there. ;-)
The lenai needs some work. Definitely looking forward to eventually laying down a slate floor out here and adding some matchstick blinds. We need a wet saw so I have to go poke around Amazon and see what's out there before we go tool shopping. Was chatting with Melodious about powerwashers in Facebook. There's a lot I don't know so I have to pick several brains before we make a decision. You can't organize a man cave if you don't know what you plan on putting in it. The tool section has to be efficiently arranged by use and chore assignment (there will be a work shop - LOL).
I'm really looking forward to having a proper work shop. My fingers are crossed about it not raining today because my kids would have a cow if I messed with "the art room" in a way that would limit their zipping-in-and-out access. Stephen loves to paint and Noah likes engaging in night photography so they think of this as their creative space. If I go out there with my laptop Noah takes it away while Stephen insists it belongs on the desk in "the music room." Psst... I'm not allowed in the den. That's "the boys club" so I'm being told I need to get back to work in the room across from theirs (the girls club - and yes, my snarky gal pals are coming - LOL).
That means it's time for me to get back to work. I have children to chase, book shelves to assemble, a carpet to clean and a garage to empty... we also need snackage for the football game later so Walmart is on my radar. Can you say Shorty wants to check out their peel and stick race floor? Seriously. It looks like a checkered flag (LOL). ;-)
