My End-of-year Letter to Clients and Friends for 2011

Dear Friends and Family,

It seems we just had that beautiful Thanksgiving meal and suddenly Christmas is right around the corner.  Wow, doesn’t time fly by fast? I have so much to be thankful for, both of my parents are still alive and doing pretty good, my kids are awesome and real estate has been decent this year.  This will be our 2nd Christmas in our new home but yet, it feels like only yesterday when we moved in.

In my real estate world, I recently got bad news...my assistant, Rosie, is leaving me.  She has been with me for over 3 years, I just got her trained in paperwork, and we get along so splendidly and I consider her to be one of my best friends.   The many talks of politics, eating healthy and hearing of her weekend antics will be missed.  We had all the same beliefs and never hardly disagreed on anything and it will be hard to find another assistant with such similar personality traits.  She is moving in with her boyfriend in Oceanside and going to school there so I’m happy for her that she has found someone she wants to spend that much time with.  I will always set a butterfly free with a blessing if it means they will be moving forward in life.  I think I will wait to hire someone and see how busy the next year will be, but in saying that, I definitely could use any referrals that might be thrown my way.  It is absolutely a great time to buy whether your a first time buyer, move up/down buyer, or better yet, an investment property buyer.  Rates are crazy low (around 4%) and prices seem to be hitting the bottom.

My mother is still living on her own and plugging along.  For now, Malyssa, my best friend,  is working with me and she is checking in on my mom a couple times a week doing shopping and errands.  I love Malyssa to spend time with my mother and think it’s really good for the both of them.  My mom says Malyssa is a good listener and Malyssa says she loves hearing stories of my mother’s recent books and the latest gossip of her friends.  When listening to my mom talk, I always have to stop and ask her, “Mom, is this a real story or out of one of your books?” Sometimes the real stories are more dramatic than her books--lol! I’m so appreciative of being able to spend such quality time with my mother during the last year.  We are going on our second Mexico trip this December!  She is beating the odds of her heart condition and is living past the time the doctors gave her to live.   She has been and still is such a strong woman.

My dad is now living at Sunrise Assisted Living right here in Fullerton.  His Alzheimer’s seems to be somewhat stable for the time being.  He still loves to go to the Casino and I try to take him as much as possible.   I am the definition of the term “sandwich” generation taking care of elderly parents and teens at the same time.  Hey, it makes life interesting.    Luckily, my whole family, particularly Beale, my husband, helps in the caring for my parents so that makes it so much easier.

Beale just got exciting news that he passed his test and now has his real estate license--YAY!  Now when you hire me for real estate you get 2 for 1, everyone loves a deal.  Seriously, he has always been my behind-the-scene-man but now he can help me show properties and actually talk shop.  Plus, if I want to take a couple of days off here and there he can handle the whole show, writing up offers and everything.   In his spare time, Beale trained extensively for a motorcycle ride call “The Barstow to Vegas”.  I believe it was approximately 400-500 miles and he finished just fine.  All of his training paid off and he looks fabulous from all that exercise, I’m so proud of him.

Avalon, my daughter, is attending Fullerton Junior College trying to get some of her general ed out of the way.  The budget cuts have made it almost impossible as a first year student for her to get the classes she needs.  Liam, my son, is in the digital arts program at Fullerton High and he seems to be enjoying this year and getting good grades.  I love Fullerton High School and I’m so happy with the education that my 2 kids have recieved there.

As most of you know, I’m a big believer in trying to eat healthy and I believe one of the easiest ways to do this is to blend greens.  There is a $10 book available on Amazon called “Green for Life” by Victoria Boutenko, it is a very easy read and a simple concept to grasp.  I have recommended this book to a lot of people and most everyone who has followed it has seen significant changes in their health, so I highly recommend it.   If we don’t have our health, we have nothing.  Here’s to a happier and healthier 2012!  I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year. Life is short, so go out there and live it and try to make a difference in someone else’s.

Love & Prayers,
