2011 December Blogging Challenge - We Can Build & Buy American
I just had new garage doors installed yesterday. Today I read a post by Steve Hoffacker, "buy American" and I say to myself, Yes why not? My doors were made in Ohio, Great quality, very good price, and the installer was one of the owners. See website of Company below;
Check out this news story by ABC national news on a home builder who decided he had built with forewign supplied materials too long. He searched - and successfully found - nails, screws, and every other component necessary to build a new home that was made in America.
He has other converts as a result.
The payoff, as you'll see, is that an estimated increase of only 5% in Amercian made materials in the construction of a new home would mean over 200,000 jobs.
We can do this. It just takes the effort and the commitment.
Everywhere we turn - except in the White House and Congress - we see ways to increase employment without one dime of federal money being spent.
