FSBOs Down, REALTORS Score!  staging, Colorado Springs

According to yesterday’s Natl. Assoc. of Realtors® - Economists’ Outlook blog,  FSBOs decreased from 19% to 10% during 1991-2011. The share of Sellers using Realtors or Brokers increased from 77% to 87% You may have caught this earlier, but I thought it was headline worthy and called for a much needed shout out to both REALTORS and Independent Brokers!

Glad to see this trend fading away.

If you’re thinking of selling, you've researched your market and your competition enough to know there are sharper knives in the drawer (Realtors and Brokers) than you.  They are masters at being able to market your property better, optimize your MLS listing, target the right buyer demographic, navigate negotiations, oversee inspections, manage legal paperwork (not a complete list here, by any means) and get you the most profit in the shortest amount of time. Honestly, your home is probably your biggest investment, protect it wisely and rely on the experts in this field who, without a doubt, have your back.

For a listing of local Realtors and Independent Brokers in your area, please review the National Association of Realtors website: http://www.realtor.org/rofindrealtor.nsf/pages/FS_FREALTOR?OpenDocument

In the Colorado Springs and Front Range area, please refer to the Pikes Peak Association of Realtors website: http://www.ppar.com/

Cheers to a successful sale!

Thank you for the information. I have noticed that there are fewer FSBOS in my market as well.

I wish they will break it down by year. .not really sure how the housing bubble plays into effect in the middle of this study.

Kim: The takeaway is that sellers need the expertise, knowledge, negotiating and pricing skills, and marketing resources that Realtors bring to the table. Glad to see this stat is moving in the right direction.

FSBOs worked when prospects could drive by and see a sign - NOT so now with web as the starting point for most homebuyer prospects

Thank you, Gita. Glad to hear sellers in your area confirm this report.

Fernando, Yes, the span is wide. Hopefully, you're seeing less FSBO activity in MD & VA.

Anne, agreed. I'm all for educating the Seller, another reason I felt this should be circulating.

Very true, Wallace. Thanks for your comment.

Thanks for the promo! I believe FSBOs have learned in this market it takes work to sell - not wishful thinking!

Kim - Couldn't agree more and here's another statistic for you - 90% of FSOB eventually call a Realtor. Think of all the time and energy they wasted only to call the experts anyway!

Yes, I believe you're right, Gary. If they're smart, they'll want their investment handled by a pro.

Hi Kristine, great stat. Precious days/weeks/months wasted = lost profits and high stress.

Kim, good for Sellers! FSBO's what to save in the beginning but they DO loose at the end. It is worth to pay professionals when you sell your most valuable investment.

Some Great News, Kim. I have decided to go after more FSBO in my market in 2012. Many of them do have that "Wishful Thinking" attitude, but come back to reality in these hard times of selling homes.

You're certainly right about the wishful thinking, Jerry. I wish you much success with capturing this niche in 2012! Thanks for stopping by.

That's good news.  FSBO's are tough, especially in this market and there is more to Real Estate than meets the eye.

Hi Gene, I'm always amazed to see those FSBO signs. Its like deciding to be your own courtroom attorney. Thanks for commenting!
