Wrinkles may work for Sharpeis, but not for linens

Just wondering how everyone else handles the wrinkle issue with bed linens . . . there has to be a better solution that what I've tried:
1) Ironed everything at home the night before, but made packing next to impossible since I don't have room to lay all the linens flat AND transport my accessories, soooo sometimes the freshly pressed linens didn't arrive on site in the same pristine condition as when they left.
2) Purchased a steamer -- it hissed & leaked & made water spots unless it was held completely upright. Returned it because I thought it was broken.
3) Hauled my iron and ironing board to the site -- very cumbersome and took up way too much room in my SUV
4) Purchased another steamer -- this time a commercial grade -- but this one also only works if you hold the wand completely upright -- kind of difficult once the linens are on the bed. Can't try to hold the linens upright and steam at the same time.

Help! We are in the image business and the only wrinkles I want to see are on a four-legged animal (or one of the stuck-up girls I went to high school with!  Hee-Hee.)

I hear you Tammy, it's a real pain and I HATE ironing!  What I do is iron the linens the night before and fold them up once they cool down.  I then put them into these heavy plastic zip-up bags that I bought from Ikea and I just carry them from underneath like I was carrying a pizza box.  When I go to load up my van, I make sure that they are the last item to go in and I place them on top or on the front seat next to me.  It seems to work pretty good for me.  I'm glad you posted this though, maybe someone else has a better and easier way - I hope!

Have you tried some of the wrinkle-release sprays that are out there (downy makes one)--If your linens are pressed before you head out to the job, the spray works pretty well on the inevitable creases that occur during packing/transport.  It's not a complete substitute for ironing, but I have to say it's a pretty good alternative.  Give it a try at home and see if you're satisfied with the results!

Just my 2cents...and no, I'm not a compensated endorsement, just a gal who hates to iron ;-)

Charlene & Heather --

Thanks for responding.  Guess I'm just looking for a genie to appear out of the steam nozzle and show us some ironing magic that we haven't seen before.

Kim --

Are those wrinkle-release sprays safe for all fabrics?

I use a combination of all 3-I always travel with an iron-though I hate to use it! We also have a small steamer that works ok for quick touchups on a bed (already made) and my partner swears by downey wrinkle release-smells good too. I iron ahead of time and hang on pant hangers in an empty closet (especially bedskirts). I then arrive to find some wrinkles too-grrrrr

Tammy - I always bring my iron and board with me on staging jobs.

I do have the Genie your looking for to help with the wrinkles.    It's my assistant!  She happily does everything I don't have time to do or that I dislike doing.  She is a lifesaver.  :)

I love Downey Wrinkle Release - it works wonders.  I use it on everything.  Even leave it in my car and spray it on my clothes while I'm wearing them.  Haven't used an Iron in years.  :)

Tammy - Very cute title! I always carry an iron and ironing board with me to the job. I hate it, but found that is what works best for me. I cheat and only iron the part of the sheets that are seen - so at least it cuts down on some of the time. :)

Tammy,

I save the long cardboard tubes from fabric stores and wrap my linens around them for transporting. I used to have a Mangle (I bought it at an estate sale) and I loved it but it finally bite the dust.

I purchased the small table top ironing board as it's easier to transport and doesn't take up much room.  In addition,

For the comforter, I lay it on the bed and use an extension cord and iron away.  It works perfectly.

Thanks so much for sharing all of your methods.  And the winner is . . . . . (drum roll, please) . . . . a combination of all of the above.  I'm going to buy the wrinkle releaser and use my iron as a steamer -- it doesn't spit or hiss at me and it steams in both the vertical AND horizontal positions.  I'll let you know if it is indeed a winning combination (wink-wink, smile!).

I have heard great things about the Downy wrinkle release product, but have yet to try it. I hang the more wrinkle prone bedding, to save time ironing at the site. (I'm still looking for the right hangers), and I store it in a clear, zippered dress/ suit bag. I always bring my iron, which has a very strong vertical steam setting, and a small ironing board. I have also steamed the bedding right on the bed....it works. Thanks for all the suggestions...hope mine helped!
