Business Plans for the New Year are well in process for me, but it occurred to me that my Life Plans for 2012 and the New Year have been pushed to the back burner.
The premise is…..I work so that I can live…..and in a way that will keep me balanced and happy. Sounds easy enough,…. but I find it increasingly difficult to carve out the time away from working, and living the life I envision for myself.
So, as I reflect on this past year and look forward to the New Year, I have decided to put some energy into developing my Life Plan for 2012.
At the top of my list is Learning to Listen…really listen to those who are closest to me without interruption. All too often, I find myself responding to an email while taking quick glances at the husband who is trying to tell me something about his day. He seldom complains, but if it were reversed, I think I would find my behavior very rude.
Taking the Time to Listen is next on the list. ….Does anyone see a pattern beginning to form here?... I live in the middle of 4 acres of hardwoods….My plan is to take in the sounds of the morning with my coffee before opening my laptop to check my emails, my calendar, etc. There are such a variety of birds and animals bedding down or waking up all around me every day, and I am ashamed to say I take it for granted too often
No Life Plan can be complete without Making Time to Listen to your heart, your mind and your soul. Learning to be at peace with who you are and where you are right now…this minute.
I’ve got a long way to go in developing my Life Plan for 2012, but, Listening will be a good start.
