Finding Christmas All Around You

As you get older in life one finds that each Christmas is different.  Some times it is more challenging for me in certain years to capture that feeling I had about the holiday when I was a kid.  However, occasionally you stumble upon something that just puts you in the spirit, at least for a little while.

Recently I was having an impromptu lunch with my wife at a local restaurant called 'Finleys' in Battle Creek, Michigan.  She often has a very busy schedule with her work, that does not align with mine too often, so it infrequent we can get together for lunch during a work week.  However, on Monday our schedules aligned at the last minute because I had to go with her to drop her car off for some routine maintainence.  The timing was perfect for a lunch date.

When we were departing, I noticed this rather large bear sitting on a bench in the reception.  I posed for this photo below.  That large bear just kind of brings everyone into the spirit I guess.  Looking at this photo, I can see why.  What is not to like about him?  Also, he certainly has some of the Christmas spirit too!

Merry Christmas!

Michael, your comments are so true about getting older and finding it harder to find the holiday spirit.  I have also found that as I am maturing (not aging) that I treasure the little things in life more, like the holiday bear in your picture.  Happy Holidays!  --Krystal

Very nice!    There is a kid inside all of us, and we get to let it out, at this time of year.

The bear is great! I use to live in Battle Creek - on Emmett Street! Of course that was about 35 years ago. Thanks for your post.

David, this is a small world!  I live not far from Emmett Street.  Drive down it quite often.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday season!
