What do you say when people ask you about the market?

As real estate professionals, it is important that we be realistic about the market conditions where we work. But does that mean we should be negative if the market is in a tough spot? Absolutely not!

First, there is opportunity in every market. Even in a buyer's market, you can find a great deal if you can get your home sold.

Second, clients and prospects look to us for hope that they can achieve their real estate goals. If we are positive, yet educate them about the realities at play, they will trust us to help them get to where they want to be.

Finally, it just stinks to be around negativity. Be honest. Do you really like to hang around people who are focused on gloom and doom? I didn't think so.

When someone asks me about today's market, I tell them that homes priced right and presented well are selling, and that sellers willing to go to where the buyers are being successful. Let's be that agent that our friends, family, and people we meet look to for an honest, yet positive experience.

John, I agree.  There are buyers purchasing in this market.  The homes selling are a result of quite a few factors. More importantly this market needs to be put in perspective when looking at the hisory of the housing market.  I just posted about this very thing.  When I purchased my home the market continued down.  Now I can tell you I have a nice assett, my largest.  But this has occured over time.  We need to let our buyers see the complete picture.

Hi John, I'm a Realtor in Massachusetts. When someone asks me how the market is doing, I give them a big smile and say "Unbelievable"!  It covers you both ways a keeps things possitive.
