Standing Sentry in Waynesville, NC - Not So Speechless Sunday

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with MoonDancer Realty, Dillsboro,NC NC# 218097

This massive oak has been standing sentry on Church Street in Waynesville for far longer than any of the 100 plus year old houses.

Wouldn’t you love to hear the history he’s witnessed? How many soldiers took cover behind his trunk? How many lovers kissed beneath his leaves? How many children scrambled over his limbs?

Good morning Mona. I too often think of the history of the old and stable. Wonderful tree and neat face on it. Have a wonderful day.

if only they could talk.  We' re currently burning a tree we lost in the tornado that was huge like that.  Made me sad to loose it, but it is now heating my home.

Mona, I was a bit worried that you are going to tell us that this tree has to make room for something new and shiny! Phew! Thank goodness that's not the case! Old and weathered is a lot more interesting!

Hi Mona, good to find you again blogging wonderful stories. Trees probably do talk, we just can't here all their stories. Your imagination in this fine post certainly reminder me of the all the things they witnessed just by standing tall and quiet. Have a great holiday, Emily

Sheila, hello.  This old neighborhood in Waynesville is full of the fabulous old trees.

Sharon, we would never be bored, would we?  Hope Lindsey is still doing well.

Hi Tammy, I remember reading your posts after those terrible winds.  I know you hated losing those trees but I'm glad you found a very good use for them.

Hello Andrea, nope surrounded by old and weathered.  Don't worry...if shiny and new shows up, it won't be talked about in Speechless Sunday!

Emily, great to hear from you.  This tree is probably at least 400 years old...can you imagine?
