Barn

I can never resist taking photos of barns.  I like ones that are perfectly restored however  my favorite subjects are the broken down ones.

Because agriculture was and still is a major player in the Hudson Valley economy you will find all types in the region.

I have seen barns converted into homes, rental apartments, studios, offices, and space for events such as weddings.  Lets not forget the orignal purpose of these barns to house animals, hay and grains.

Hi Jennifer, I agree. Those broken down barns seem to have so many stories and history behind it.

Jennifer I love this barn! Rhinebeck is a beautiful town, and not too far away from me. Keep up the blogging!

This one is starting to look like a "lean to", Jennifer! lol I agree, old barns have a special appeal with the history that has passed through them.

Jennifer, Very cool photo. I love old barns, this one looks like it might not be standing much longer.

That's a really cool looking barn!  The best thing, to me, about old buildings is trying to imagine all of the things they have seen.  Thanks for sharing.

Jennifer  There is no question that barn is standing from sheer force of habit - great photo

I think this is a great time of year to share a picture of a barn.  Barn, stable, kind of the same.

Jennifer I don't know, but I hope no one lights a match around that barn, it could have a bad result :)

Jennifer -- Is it leaning or is that just the way the picture was taken.  Barns have so much character. Have you ever seen two exactly alike?  Barns were never built cookie cutter style like many houses are.

I grew up on a farm that had an old barn that looked just like this one.  Brings back old memories!

Jennifer, by capturing these barns ready to fall down, you could very well see them reconstructed into a home, and you could provide the new home owners with a piece of history!     BTW, if you remove that 2 by 4, will it fall down?

That's about a half a million dollar property here.  Well it would be if it had indoor plumbing.

Lots of character in that picture. Some days I feel like that old barn...still weathering the storms even though I may be looking a bit worn!
