Hewlett-Packard in Boise beat all other United States HP sites in donations

When people visit the Treasure Valley, I often hear “people are so nice in Idaho.”  I couldn’t agree more.

Community support is rampant throughout Boise.  Recently, 565 Hewlett-Packard employees donated over $370,000 in cash that was matched by over $296,000 from the HP Foundation.  Hewlett-Packard in Boise beat all other United States HP sites in donations this year during its annual Charitable Giving Campaign.

HP is a staple in Boise offering employment and innovation.

Thank you to HP and all the employees who donated this year.

“… Another $108,986 worth of HP product involving 122 employees also was donated to Valley organizations. Employees also gathered an additional $24,000 in donations and about six tons of nonperishable food for the Idaho Foodbank.

In a Wednesday ceremony in the cafeteria of HP's campus at 11311 Chinden Blvd., the United Way of Treasure Valley received a total of $112,779 for the donations. The Idaho Food bank received a total of $63,446. About 360 employees donated 912 hours of service to 12 agencies, including the Create Common Good, Computers for Kids and Sustainable Futures. Other employee projects included purchasing more than a ton of pasta, about $1,000 worth, and packaging it for distribution by the Idaho Foodbank to shelters, food pantries and free meal sites. Employees purchased $3,800 worth of new bedding, desks, desk lamps, dressers drawers, wall hangings, rugs, wall clocks, drapes and other furnishings for the Boise Rescue Mission. HPers raised $1,000 to beautify the garden at the Women’s and Children’s Alliance’s Serena’s House next spring. About $1,200 in HP funds purchased some of the lights for Winter Garden aGlow, including the LED lights on the towers at the Children’s Garden. Garden aGlow is the Botanical Gardens’ largest fundraiser.

Employees also donated 640 pounds of food and $780 in cash for the Idaho Humane Society Pet Food Pantry.”
