Another step in the REDEVELOPMENT OF LEXINGTON PARK AND GREAT MILLS MARYLAND occurred on December 7, 2011 when an abandoned Mobil gas station was torn down. The property is zoned Commercial Mixed Use, which allows a variety of uses including office buildings and drive through restaurants.
This gas station that had stood vacant since 1998, was purchased by one of Cherry Cove Land Development's subsidaries. They also purchased the old Mike's Bar and Restaurant on Great Mills Road, which is expected to be torn down too. There are no immediate plans for their investment in these properties.
Another abandoned gas station still stands at the intersection of Great Mills Rd and Chancellor's Run Rd.
Robin Finnacom, director pf the Community Development Corp., which works to revitalize Lexington Park, MD., says "everything is heading in the right direction", concerning the new infrastructure along Great Mills Road, and more recently, the Patuxent Park neighborhood. Now she wants to see private reinvestment take advantage of these projects.
This information concerning the REDEVELOPMENT OF LEXINGTON PARK AND GREAT MILLS MARYLAND came from the Jason Babcock article in the Enterprise December 15, 2011.
