Salvation Army isn’t just about bell ringers asking for donations. There are other ways to give. If you haven’t visited a local Salvation Army FaChristmas bellmily Store, make it a point to stop by soon. And be among people who

Reduce, Reuse, Regift!!

What can one expect to find?  Here are true stories and real finds:

Sofa Bed. Before Gary and I moved to the Bay area, we gave away so many of our things, and we didn’t want to splurge to buy new stuff until we were comfortably ensconced in our selected city of Alameda. We needed a sofa, so we went to Salvation Army and found a NEW (yes, NEW, was an overstocked item at some store) sofa bed!

Table and Chairs. My nephew and his new bride were moving into their new apartment. Between the two of them, they had no furniture. So my Mom and I went to Salvation Army, found a table with leaves and 4 matching chairs.  That was nearly 8 years ago, and they’re still using that dining set.

Sweaters and Jackets. Another nephew just immigrated from the Philippines (tropical, hot and humid weather). He had no cold weather clothes except for one light jacket. Being on a strict budget, we found several sweaters and jackets, many of them still new (again, overstock items).

Home Staging Accessories. One time, I saw a local stager rummaging through glassware, ceramics, pictures, furniture. She said she finds so many good things at an area designated for higher end goods where one may find a complete China set. I also saw another REALTOR doing the same thing that I was: looking for items to accessorize properties we were listing.

Great examples, Pacita, of how the Salvation Army and other second-hand and thrift stores can be so very useful. It's amazing how many inexpensive items you can find to accessorize a property so that it shows its best!

It's amazing what one can find at the thrift shops like Salvation Army, Goodwill St Vincent de Paul, etc. It makes me feel good to shop there: I spend a whole lot less, and I get to help in another way.
