Motivational Power Quote
But I Don’t Want To Do It
“Leadership is getting someone to do what they don’t want to do,
to achieve what they want to achieve.”
Tom Landry, Football Coach
As I see it . . . . . . .
But I don’t want to do it
We know what has to be done but we don’t want to do it.
We know it’s the right thing to do and we know it will enhance our career but we are reluctant to get started and to it.
You might say its procrastination, but it’s not it reluctance.
It’s your inner voice telling you to stay in your comfort zone even when you know you should step out of it.
With a good coach or mentor as in the case of Tom Landry, they will coach you to step out of your comfort zone and to stretch your limits and to reach for a higher rung on the ladder of success.
But there are many of us that may not have the resource of a coach. When there’s no coach we have to coach ourselves.
When there’s something that has to be done create a Ben Franklin list of pros and cons of what has to be done. With each pro, make a list the benefits that you will achieve by successfully achieving the task. With the cons list what the negative efforts will be on you and your career if you did not take action on the task.
Use your Ben Franklin list as a motivator and carry it with you and refer back to it during the day.
Coach yourself with you Ben Franklin list and I don’t want to do it will begin to melt away.
