I have been an agent for over three years now and have been invited to countless Professional Networking events and my answer was ALWAYS No! I didn't see the value, until today. To be honest, I am not that comfortable standing up talking in front of a group of people....so that was one reason that I never wanted to go, but a few weeks ago, I made a commitment to myself that this was something that I needed to get over and get over it NOW! So I started researching local groups and found www.meetup.com . They have a great mobile application that will allow you to post all events directly to your calendar..which is perfect for me because I always forget to add appointments to my calendar.
Last week I heard about a Professional Networking group that was having a power lunch today and decided NOW was the time to JUST DO IT! I was very pleased with the environment and attendees. I felt welcomed and met some great professionals in several industries. The BONUS...I received a referral lead!
I have to admit (which doesn't happen often), I was wrong and I am very glad that I went today and look forward to developing some strong professional relationships.
