Now that you've been pre-approved for your dream loan, you are finally ready to:

Hire an Agent

Now that you know what all of your financing options are, you are now ready to shop for your new home! Forgetting the inherent bias in this opinion, but you should always do so with the professional guidance that a Realtor provides. First and foremost, a Buyer's Agent - hired by you - is an advocate for your interests and no one else's. We'll talk more on this particular line of thought at a later date.

Second, a real estate professional is specifically tuned in to what is available in the area you want to live and the price range you feel comfortable shopping in. As an added bonus, they may even have suggestions of areas that fit your needs that you might not originally have thought of. When April and I were shopping for homes, Flourtown was not necessarily on our radar right away, but our agent helped guide us in the right direction with helpful suggestions about how similar this area was to those that we were already looking in.

Once you’ve spoken with a lender, learned about your financing options, and have been pre-approved, you’ll be better prepared to shop for homes with you agent. A real estate agent not only will be able to provide information about a specific home that interests you, but can also arrange home tours as necessary and assist in the final negotiation process.

Doing these three things in order will make the home-buying process easier for you and your agent. Once you have these things checked off, then you can enjoy searching for your dream home.
