Original Buckhall United Methodist Church

Those words were spoken in 1905 by Thomas J. Moore, a newly elected Trustee of Buckhall United Methodist Church in Manassas.

Prior to that Buckhall was served once a month by a Methodist circuit rider pastor. In June 1905 Joseph and Lydia Hensley donated land for the construction of a church.

It was completed in 1906 at a total cost of $830.80.

Buckhall United Methodist has continued to grow and serve the community. While the original sanctuary still stands proudly at the corner of the Prince William Parkway and Moore Drive it is now attached to a Sunday School and much larger sanctuary. What a lovely church..it reminds me of the Methodist church in Scotia N.Y. I attended as a child. They have since torn it down and built a more modern one..always loved the old one:).

Communities should always strive to preserve their earliest churches. They served as a sanctuary for so many people. Generation and generation, this church served its community well. It's good to know its lasting beauty shall prevail. I always loved a white church with a cobalt blue sky surrounded by vivid greenery.
