Wikiup GreensMy sweetie and I have been moving for the past two weeks. After more than two decades in the same house we had accumulated more stuff than I would have imagined possible. Our new place isn't any smaller in the basic floor plan, but we are leaving behind some attic space that let me exercise the worst of my pack rat tendencies. A lot of things made it to Goodwill, but a lot of it went straight to a storage unit to deal with after we recover from the move itself. I did find a good resource for determining what we can get rid of.

We're happy in Wikiup Greens. We have great neighbors who we didn't get a chance to meet before we moved in and we're a lot closer to the heart of Sonoma County for everything from shopping to working out. We're close enough to our old stomping grounds for Janie to continue to sing her monthly gig at Main St. Station, so we can still be in easy contact with our friends. We're both looking at this as a chance to create some new habits that are better for our 55+ lifestyle. More frequent exercise, more salads, and a chance to spend less time driving. Gas is 3 bucks and more here, and if I can save ten gallons a week, that's going to be my small contribution to stopping global warming.

The other delight about being in Wikiup Greens is the sunshine and beautiful sunsets we are enjoying. Our old haunts were beautiful and forested, but the sun basically retired for the winter after the equinox in September. The sunshine and the Indian summer weather we have been having is very special and a great welcome interlude before the winter weather that is sure to come.

Luther Burbank, the famed horticulturist from the era of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford, thought Sonoma County was just about the finest place on earth to grow things. I'm going to test his theory.

Dave - Moving is such a job.  I have heard you should move every 5-7 years just to keep from accumulating so much "stuff."  Congratulations on your new home.
