Happy Boxing Day!

Industry Observer with RETIRED / State License is Inactive Inactive License Oregon

It's December 26th -- the day after Christmas.

It's over folks!!

But wait . . . there's more.

December 26th is Boxing Day -- a tradition celebrated by our friends . . . and former sparring partners . . . the Brits!

Let's take the day of December 26th and do some more holiday good cheer stuff!!

. . . it's not only just the British who celebrate Boxing Day.

Quite a few countries recognize December 26 as Boxing Day, or St. Stephan's Day, or Second Christmas Day, or Goodwill Day:

The UK, (England, Scotland, Wales), Ghana, Australia, Jamaica, Canada, Germany, Greenland, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Trindad & Tobago, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Scandinavia, Poland, Nigeria. Austria, Italy, Sweden, Croatia, Ireland, Finland, Estonia, Norway, Denmark, etc.

Anyway . . . beginning in the Middle Ages, the tradition started with folks giving of their gifts to charity.  Many of the folks were the upper crust of society.  They would box things up . . . and distribute clothing and charitable items to the poor and needy.

"Boxing" up leftovers was common after the feast, (when they didn't have fridges, makes sense).  The day after Christmas kept the spirit of giving alive.

So in the tradition of Boxing Day/St. Stephen's Day . . . I'm giving you some left-overs:

Boxing day seems a good tradition to me.  I have more food left over here than we will ever eat, need to distribute turkey sandwiches to the masses.
