Time to Commit yourself to your Goals for 2012
Have you even thought about your Goals for 2012? It makes sense to write them down because if your like me I can set a goal, think about it, tell myself this is what I am going to do, mean it at the time and guess what? It does not happen or it takes longer than it should have. Everyone should write them down and then make a ACTION PLAN with Measurable Time for your GOALS to make them come true. I have not set my Goals yet for 2012.
Set Goals for YOU not your husband, mother or kids.
Be SURE
S: Is your goal specific?
U: Do you understand the work involved in your goal?
R: Is your goal realistic?
E: Are you enthusiastic about your dreams?
Be SMART
Specific: A specific goal has a much greater chance of being accomplished than a general goal. To set a specific goal you must answer the six “W” questions:
Who: Who is involved?
What: What do I want to accomplish?
Where: Identify a location.
When: Establish a time frame it does help to achieve your goals.
Which: Identify requirements and constraints.
Why: Specific reasons, purpose or benefits of accomplishing the goal.
Measurable: Establish concrete criteria for measuring progress toward the attainment of each goal you set. You will be able to see the efforts as your Goals are achieved. If you don't put a time-line your apt to say I will do that next week and nothing gets done.
Attainable: You can attain most goals if you plan wisely and and allow yourself worthy of them. Attitude has a lot to do with it so beef up your self esteem and dedicate yourself to them. When you set time on these goals they seem so far away but when they are coming to fruition your exhilaration of achievement spurs you even more.
Realistic: Nothing can happen without actual implementation; that is why it is so important to set practical goals. The action will never take place if your goals are too overwhelming. Setting unrealistic goals is the number-one reason why crash diet and exercise programs fail.
TIMELY: A goal should be grounded within a time frame. With no time frame tied to it there’s no sense of urgency. If you want to lose 10 lbs, when do you want to lose it by? “Someday” won’t work. But if you put a time-frame on it, “by June 1st”, then you’ve set your unconscious mind into motion to begin working on the goal and your more than likely achieve it.
